Death of Lincoln
On April 15, 1865, a famous actor and confederate sympathizer, John Wilkes Booth decided to shoot Abraham Lincoln during a theater show with his wife. The attack came five days after the Confederate General Robert E. Lee and his army ended American Civil war. Vice president Andrew Johnson, embers of Lincolns cabinet and several president friends stood by Lincolns bedside until he was officially pronounced dead around 7:20 a.m. Lincolns body was placed on a temporary coffin rapped in a flag, which was carried by soldiers in a marching parade dedicated to President Abraham Lincoln. The news of our president traveled quickly, by the end countries all over put up flags to honor Lincoln. On April 21, Lincolns body was boarded on a train to Springfield, Illinois where he lived before becoming president.
